Who requires a visa?

1. ELSA members from the following countries:
  •     Azerbaijan
  •     Russia
  •     Turkey

2. ELSA members from the following countries who require a visa only if they are not holders of biometric passports:
  •     The Republic of Moldova;
  •     The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia;
  •     The Republic of Serbia, except for the passports issued by the Serbian Coordination Division (in Serbian: Koordinaciona uprava);
  •     The Republic of Montenegro (the non-biometric passports issued by this state are no longer valid);
  •     Georgia
  •     Ukraine

What documents are required when applying for the visa?

  • The application form, appropriately filled in and signed;
  • Two recent color photos, size 3 x 4 cm;
  • A valid travel document that is recognised by Romania, on which the visa shall be applied and which has to:
    • be valid for at least three months after the estimated day of exit from Romania;
    • contain at least two free pages;
    • have been issued within the last 10 years
  • A voucher or firm reservation at a tourist accommodation unit, as well as the itinerary of the trip;
  • A valid travel ticket to destination, or the driving license, green card and registration documents of the means of transport in the case of vehicle drivers, except for the accompanying persons who travel together with them;
  • Travel medical insurance in amount of at least EUR 30,00;
  • Proof of financial means in amount of EUR 50/day for the entire period, but not less than EUR 500 or the equivalent in convertible currency, except for the visa applicants who prove the full payment in advance of the tourism services packages, at least accommodation and meals.

Where can you apply for the visa?

1. You can submit your application to the diplomatic missions or consulates of Romania abroad, in the area of residence, and in exceptional circumstances to the diplomatic missions or consulates of Romania in the state on whose territory you legally stay.

2. You can apply online on http://evisa.mae.ro/ in order to reduce the waiting time at a diplomatic mission/consulate and to streamline the visa application process.

The eVisa portal offers  the opportunity to demonstrate the fulfilment of legal requirements by loading online all the necessary information and supporting documents before going to the diplomatic mission/consulate as well the possibility to check the status of your applications online, in any moment.

The documents are verified by the consular staff, who gives online feedback and inform you about the possibility to make an online appointment through the portal, for a certain date and time, when to be present at the relevant diplomatic mission or consulate in order to have the original documents verified and the file registered.
